Can UK garage reconcile with its forebearers house and techno? Ricky Def, a remote fixture in the Los Angeles underground, asks this question in his most recent mix, Speak the Truth, now a Futra podcast. The influx of established and emergent music genres are distilled by Ricky Def’s adherence to selecting and mixing solely vinyl records; a process that frees him from artifice and allows the music to speak for itself. Listen to what it has to say.

Dominika Zagozda is a LA based jewelry designer whose label, CourageinViolet, seeks to mix bold, unique designs, with soft, elegant elements. Dominika grew up in Toronto, Canada, where she always had an affinity for fashion and creativity. Her personal style is defined as unique, fun and confident. On her latest jewelry collection, she notes: “I love playing with asymmetry, whether that means wearing a hoop in one ear and a long feather earring in the other, or pairing 2 or 3 chain earrings all on one side – It’s all about mixing and matching to find one’s own style. I want to encourage people to have the confidence to wear something bold, something different.”
