Futra brings London-based Dark Sky to Los Angeles for the first time ever for their March 7th show at Los Globos. Dark Sky made huge waves with their 2010 debut release on the Bristol imprint “Black Acre” with their “Something to Lose” EP. This release showcased their razor sharp attention to detail in beat making and foreshadowed their rise in popularity and production. The debut was met with rave reviews and lead to many more collaborations and mixes with popular artists (The XX, Delooze, Stateless and more recently Kelis, Alpines and Ben Westbeech).
Last December Dark Sky released “Myriam EP” on Modeselektor’s Berlin imprint 50 Weapons, and was reviewed on the labels website saying the release was “certainly living up to the high expectations. Garage rhythms, Clonkstep, Post-UK Funky, techy House references and even nods to Electro…a blazing example for the ongoing Bass evolution.”
Dark Sky’s LA appearance will celebrate the trio’s March release with popular UK label Tectonic, Futra has prepared by securing a sound stage with Funktion-1 sound. Dark Sky is made up of Tom Edwards, Matt Benyayer and Carlo Anderson whose new styles in production are influenced by everything from original UK garage to house. Dark Sky is hugely popular in the UK and just gaining traction in the US. According to SF-based site xlr8r.com, Dark Sky “is just damn good”.
